Friel Welch provides technical coordination and project level support through Gateway 2 and the wider higher risk building control process. Working alongside the client, Principal Designer, Principal Contractor and consultant team, we coordinate information, identify gaps, manage interfaces and help structure a clear and coherent application.
Supporting the dutyholders, not replacing them
The statutory responsibilities remain with the appointed dutyholders. Friel Welch does not act as Principal Designer or Principal Contractor, nor do we approve or certify compliance on behalf of the Building Safety Regulator.
Our role is to provide the coordination, information management and project leadership that helps the dutyholders discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Coordinating approval, procurement and delivery
We coordinate drawings, reports, compliance information and key design decisions into a structured submission. We also track dependencies, third-party interfaces and contractor designed portions, ensuring their implications for compliance, procurement, cost and programme are understood.
This is particularly important where specialist design must be incorporated before the relevant supply chain is appointed. We help the team establish a strategy that is compliant and buildable without losing sight of commercial reality.
