Russell's Water
Friel Welch provided technical design review, quantity surveying and tender management for Russell’s Water, a private residence of approximately 8,000 sq ft in Oxfordshire. Our appointment helped the client and consultant team prepare for contractor appointment, bringing the design information, scope of works and tender prices into one pre-construction process.
Preparing the design for tender
We reviewed the Stage 4 technical design across the architectural, structural and building-services packages. The review identified coordination issues, buildability risks and gaps in the scope or pricing information before the tender was issued.
This work connected the technical detail with the contractor’s responsibilities. A tender price can only be understood against the information and assumptions on which it is based.
Comparing contractor proposals
We prepared a scope of works and structured pricing documents to give contractors a consistent basis for their returns. During tendering, we managed clarifications and analysed the proposals, examining differences in scope as well as the prices.
