Heron Wharf, Poplar Riverside

Acting on behalf of specialist fit-out contractor Woodvalley, Friel Welch led delivery support for more than 18,000 sq ft of resident amenity spaces at Heron Wharf, Poplar Riverside in London. Our appointment combined project management, contractor-led design coordination, procurement and commercial control through the stages of handover.

The project: a coordinated resident amenity offer

The facilities included a gym and wellness suite, private cinema, co-working spaces, residents' lounge and concierge areas. Delivering these spaces required the design packages, specialist contractors and programme to be coordinated around the quality and operational requirements of the completed facilities.

Our appointment for Woodvalley

Friel Welch worked on the contractor's behalf. Our role covered delivery strategy, programme management, contractor coordination and programme control through each stage of handover. This contractor-side role is central to understanding how we contributed to the project.

Connecting design, procurement and delivery

We coordinated contractor-led design packages with attention to technical compliance, buildability and design integrity. Alongside that work, we led procurement, tendering and commercial control across specialist contractors.

Bringing those activities together allowed technical information, buying decisions and the sequence of work to be considered within the same delivery process. The appointment drew on the firm's project, design and quantity surveying expertise.

Completion and handover

The Riverside Spa marked the completion and handover of the final phase of the resident facilities. Heron Wharf followed Friel Welch's earlier work with Woodvalley at Alexandra Gate, providing a further example of the collaboration on residential amenity fit-outs.
